According to The Valley Virginian, a September 1874 newspaper report, this Black man was held in the jail at Trenton, Tennessee, in 1874. Masked men took him from the jail and killed him, one of fourteen Black people the paper reported were taken from the jail and killed in this way. The account is attributed to the newspaper, and no other source is cited for these events.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Valley Virginian reported that masked men summarily murdered him after taking him from the Trenton, Tennessee jail.
