A 14-year-old boy was held in a Mississippi jail in 1942, one of two boys of that age held there. According to a Savannah Tribune editorial, a mob obtained the keys from the jailer, took both boys out of the jail and killed them at a site near where they were taken. The editorial says the jailer handed over the keys. It also reports that the governor pledged to pursue those responsible.
