One of 2 people whose names were not reported
Two brothers were being held in the Redding jail, and the elder reportedly begged the crowd to spare his younger brother, maintaining that the younger man was innocent. In the early morning of July 24, 1892, about forty armed, masked men took the brothers from the jail, and the jailer was forced to reveal where the keys were kept. The mob led the men several blocks to a railroad wood shed and hanged them from a cross beam. The bodies remained hanging until the coroner cut them down around 9 a.m.
