A 17-year-old boy held at the Augusta Youth Development Campus in Georgia collapsed in the gym while playing basketball and was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Medical Center, where he died on May 26, 2024. The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice said there was no indication of foul play and asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to handle the death investigation. His body was sent to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office to determine the official cause of death.
