A person died while held at Coffee Correctional Facility, a state prison in Nicholls, Georgia, run by CoreCivic. They were one of four people who died at the facility within several weeks of each other. CoreCivic said the deaths were unrelated to one another. The Georgia Department of Corrections and CoreCivic are investigating.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined. CoreCivic says the deaths were unrelated and that medical staff tried life-saving measures until EMS arrived, while the cause is still under investigation.
