Thomas Carrier
Thomas Carrier was taken from the jail in Danville, Kentucky, in April 1867 by a band of men calling themselves Regulators, who hanged him in sight of his family. The Tri-Weekly Standard, reporting on the Regulators' acts in August 1867, says the killing happened the same night the Regulators fired on a Black man. The Weekly North-Carolina Standard describes the hanging in sight of his agonized family. Neither account says whether jail staff resisted the mob or handed him over.
