Shawn Gardner
Shawn Gardner, 37, was a member of the North Troy Volunteer Fire Department, according to a letter from the fire chief. He died on July 26, 2023 at Northwest State Correctional Facility in St. Albans, Vermont, where he was held. Prison staff said he collapsed in a shower room in a segregated unit, and Vermont State Police said there was evidence of possible drug use at the scene and that he became unresponsive after using an unknown substance. Toxicology results from the autopsy are pending, and the cause of death has not been confirmed.
