Robert Hughes, 83, died on May 22, 2020, while held at Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery County, Alabama. The Alabama Department of Corrections said he died from apparent complications of advanced colon cancer. The department said the exact cause would be determined by autopsy, which was still pending.
