Ravenwood

According to a coroner's jury reported by The New Orleans Bulletin, an armed mob took the two men from the jail and killed them on October 7, 1874. A Vicksburg Herald dispatch gives the date as October 5 and says the mob shot the men about three-quarters of a mile from town, and that their bodies were found buried in sand the next morning. The coroner's jury named four men, who were arrested and then discharged after a habeas corpus hearing. The Bulletin criticized the lack of rewards or arrests for the killings.
