Michael Kennedy
Michael Kennedy, 60, of Center Point, became ill while held at the Jefferson County Jail-Bessemer Division and told staff he felt sick on the night of October 3, 2026. He was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he died on October 6. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has scheduled an examination to determine his cause and manner of death, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances. Some reports say he had been held while awaiting a state mental health placement after a judge found him incompetent to stand trial.
