Lon J. Aycock
Lon Aycock was held at the Watkinsville jail in Georgia, where, according to the Birmingham Age-Herald, a masked mob broke in before dawn on June 29, 1905. The paper reported that the mob took him from his cell, tied him to a fence post about 100 yards from the jail and shot him, and that he protested his innocence to the end. The Pensacola Journal reported that the town marshal was forced to unlock the jail and that the jailer, saying resistance would have been useless, handed over the keys. Governor Joseph M. Terrell said he would investigate and that the men should have had a fair trial.
