Lee Stratton
Lee Stratton was held in the jail at Monroe, in Union County, when masked men overpowered the jailer, took him from custody and hanged him, according to the Memphis Daily Appeal of March 6, 1885. The account gives the date of death as March 4, 1885. It does not say whether the jailer resisted or handed over the keys.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. Masked men overpowered the jailer at the Monroe jail in Union county, took Lee Stratton from custody and hanged him.
