Lavell Najah Lane, 29, died at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on October 3, 2022. His family has spoken publicly about his death. The Sheriff's Office declined to comment while its own investigation, the coroner's inquiry and the State Law Enforcement Division's review remain open.
