Kindra Darnell Chapman was 18 when she died in July 2015 while held at the Homewood City Jail in Alabama, and her family described her as a wonderful person who loved her sisters, her brother and everybody. The Jefferson County Coroner's office listed asphyxia by hanging as the cause of death, and police said video showed her taking her own life, though the final minutes have not been released. Her mother believes police killed her daughter, and her family has called for an investigation, which the Jefferson County District Attorney's office was reviewing.
