Kelvin Bowen
Kelvin Bowen, 35, was held at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman when he was stabbed with a sharp instrument in a hallway of Building 29 on his way to see a case manager, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was pronounced dead at the prison hospital on October 3, 2023. Prison officials said another man is suspected of the attack and that policy was not followed in searching and restraining that man. A correctional officer injured a thumb trying to stop the fight.
