Joseph Martinez
Joseph Martinez, 21, was held at Calipatria State Prison in California. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he was attacked by two other prisoners on a maximum-security yard on Friday afternoon, February 14, 2020, and suffered cuts to the chest and back. He was taken to the prison medical facility and then by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Prison officials are investigating the death, and the manner of death has not yet been determined.
