John Nadeau
John Nadeau, 28, died in his cell at the Morton County Correctional Center in Mandan, North Dakota, on October 25, 2013. Court documents describe him as distraught over a break-up and the loss of a baby with his girlfriend, and as repeatedly asking for changes to his medications for depression, anxiety and heart problems. The federal lawsuit filed by his mother, Diana Nadeau, says he died by hanging himself with a torn bed sheet and that a contracted doctor, the doctor's wife, a nurse, and the county ignored his suicide risk and his requests for mental health help. The county and the nurse settled; the doctor declined to settle and was set for a jury trial, and the doctor denies the claims.
