Jeremy Lee Thompson, 34, was having a medical emergency in his car in a store parking lot in Geneva County, Alabama, in May 2021. According to a lawsuit, police took him to the Geneva County Jail instead of to medical care, and officers placed him in a restraint chair for about an hour and a half. The lawsuit says his medical needs were not met before he reached a hospital emergency room, where he was diagnosed with a heart attack and did not survive.
