Jason died in April 2024 while held in custody in Clayton County, Georgia. His mother, Sylvia Sanford, told WSB-TV that the medical examiner's office has not yet closed his case. She said closing the case would not bring him back but might ease the pain a little. The family says they have no explanation for why he died.
