Jamie Green
Jamie Green, 25, fought to get clean from heroin and was headed to a treatment program, her family says, and they describe her as a devoted mother to her children, Jayden and Brooklyn. She died of an overdose in early September 2015, a day after being moved from the Campbell County jail to the Kenton County jail in Kentucky, and was taken to St. Elizabeth Healthcare, where she was pronounced dead. Drugs found in her body were morphine and fentanyl. A federal indictment accuses four people, including her mother, of providing the drugs. A jailer said staff did not check her for withdrawal because they assumed she had had no drug access for months.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose (neglect alleged). The U.S. Attorney's office says a mix of fentanyl and morphine brought into the jail killed her, and a jailer said staff did not do withdrawal checks on her because they assumed she had no access to drugs.
Reported by: U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky (outside investigators); Kentucky Department of Justice (outside investigators); Kenton County jail staff (the agency that held her).
