Gregory Allen Showalter Sr., 64, of Ottumwa, died on December 28, 2024, at the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City while in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections. The department announced his death on January 3, 2025. No cause of death has been given in the account of the department's announcement.
