Gordon
Gordon, a man held in a Missouri county jail, was taken from custody by a mob on March 12, 1892. According to the Fort Worth Gazette, the sheriff tried to move him with two deputies, but the deputies were ambushed near the Wabash station and forced to surrender him. The mob hanged him from a telegraph pole. The Gazette account says he was asked whether he had anything to say before he died, and that the sheriff's office and deputies gave him up under threat. The Grenada Sentinel reports a similar account of a man named Lewis Gordon taken from the Carrollton jail and hanged, but it is unclear whether this is the same man.
