Died in prison

Jonathan Exum, 41, died on June 27, 2026, at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Petersburg in Hopewell, Virginia, where he was being held. He became unresponsive late that Saturday night and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A Department of Justice news release said no other staff or other people held there were hurt and the public was not in danger, and the FBI has been notified. The prison has not disclosed a cause of death.
