Donald Peacock, 46, died on May 10, 2015, during a disturbance at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution in Johnson County, Nebraska, where he was held in the custody of the state Department of Correctional Services. He was found dead in his cell after people held there took control of parts of the maximum security prison. A Johnson County grand jury said he died of blunt force trauma to the head, and the county attorney said the investigation continues. Prison officials said the cause of death was unknown but appeared to have been caused by other people held at the prison, and the Nebraska State Patrol investigated the deaths.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. A Johnson County grand jury and County Attorney Rick Smith say he died of blunt force trauma to the head after a prisoner uprising at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, and the grand jury found too little evidence to charge anyone.
Reported by: Johnson County grand jury (court); Johnson County Attorney Rick Smith; Scott R. Frakes, director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (the agency that held him).
