Devin Jaros
Devin Jaros, 19, of Montgomery, wanted to become a college football coach and helped the wrestling team at Marseilles Elementary, his alma mater; his father said the team gave him a place where he felt important. He was held at the LaSalle County Jail in Illinois in September 2016, when, according to reporting, he was found hanging in his cell with torn jail sheets. He was taken to a hospital in Peoria and kept on life support until his family chose to end it after doctors said his brain activity had continued to decline. The sheriff's office said he died by suicide, while his parents have questions about how it happened, given that there were cameras and other people in the cell.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide. Sheriff Tom Templeton said staff found him hanging in his cell during a cell check and that it was a suicide, while his parents say they still have questions about how it happened.
Reported by: LaSalle County Sheriff Tom Templeton (the agency that held him). The only account of how this person died comes from the agency that held him.
