Devarrieo Montez Shepherd
Devarrieo Montez Shepherd, 33, died in July 2021 at the William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Jefferson County, Alabama. The Alabama Department of Corrections said staff found him unresponsive in a segregation cell and took him to the infirmary, where he was pronounced dead. AL.com reported that a correctional officer found him unresponsive in his cell in the early morning, and the reports give the date as either July 14 or July 15. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said an autopsy showed no sign of trauma or foul play and that the cause of death is pending laboratory studies, and the corrections department's Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating.
