Dave Gridly
Dave Gridly, a Black man, was held under guard in Brandon. According to a letter from Brandon reprinted by the South Western Farmer, a mob took him from the guard at night and dragged him into the woods, where they hanged him. The letter says his body was then thrown into a house that was set on fire and burned.
