Daniel Lamont Davis
Daniel Lamont Davis, 38, was from Taylorsville, according to one account. He was hurt in a fight with another person held at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on Saturday, August 4, 2018, and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Officials said he died there that evening. South Salt Lake police are investigating the fight, and the other man's name is being withheld until the district attorney's office reviews the case. The manner of death has not yet been determined.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office and South Salt Lake police say he died of injuries from a fistfight with another inmate.
