Colin Conner
Colin Conner was receiving medication-assisted treatment before he entered the Salt Lake County jail in 2023. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that he said the jail stopped his usual methadone dose, that he went into withdrawal and lost his tolerance, and that he was released to the street in June 2023 instead of to a court-ordered treatment facility. He died less than a week later of a fentanyl and methamphetamine overdose, and his father, Jon Tyler Conner, who goes by Ty, says the lapse in treatment is why Colin died. Ty says he believes Colin would still be alive had he kept receiving methadone, and he has filed a class action lawsuit.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose (neglect alleged). His father, Jon Tyler Conner, says the Salt Lake County jail stopped Colin's methadone, leaving him in withdrawal, and that this lapse led to his fatal fentanyl and methamphetamine overdose after release, as his class action lawsuit also alleges.
Reported by: Jon Tyler Conner (Ty), his father, and the class action lawsuit (family or their lawyers).
Lawsuit: His father, Jon Tyler Conner, filed a class action lawsuit, saying the lapse in his methadone treatment while in the Salt Lake County jail led to his death.
