Brian Alexander, 45, died on September 17, 2026, at Scotland Correctional Institution in Scotland County, North Carolina. The Scotland County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the prison for a stabbing that day and that he was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived. The state Department of Adult Correction said he died after being assaulted by another person held at the prison.
