Antonio Marinaccio Jr.

53 years old · died May 2, 2015 · Nassau County Correctional Center, Nassau County, New York

Antonio Marinaccio Jr., 53, of Levittown, had a health checkup before going to jail, and his sister, Gloria Gazzola, said he shared his medical information to try to make sure he received good care. He had a heart attack while held at the Nassau County jail in East Meadow on April 26, 2015, and died at a hospital on May 2, after his family chose to disconnect life support. A New York State Commission of Correction report found his death may have been prevented, citing missed medications, a chest X-ray that was not done, and a nurse who left him during resuscitation. Armor Correctional Health Services, which provided care at the jail, strongly disputes those findings and says allegations of records tampering are without merit. The family has filed a lawsuit, and the state attorney general has also sued Armor.
