Anthony Jerome Gay
Anthony Jerome Gay, 42, was held at Donaldson Correctional Facility in Alabama. His mother, Claudia Mae Gay, raised him alone after he moved to the Verbena area at 11, where he played basketball at Marbury High School and sang in the choir at Lilly Hill Baptist Church. On August 16, 2022, other incarcerated men found him in his bed, and the Alabama Department of Corrections said life-saving measures in the prison's health care unit were attempted. The Jefferson County coroner's autopsy found no evidence of trauma or foul play, and the cause of death is pending further laboratory studies.
