Anderson
Noah Anderson was held in the New Richmond jail in Kentucky on August 21, 1895. Early that morning a crowd gathered calling for him to be hanged, and as a marshal and a deputy sheriff were moving him toward the county jail at Batavia, a mob took him from the officers. The Record-Union reported that the mob dragged him about a square and hanged him from a tree, and that the officers resisted as well as they could before being overpowered. The San Francisco Call gave a similar account, while the Birmingham Age-Herald said the officers made resistance but were overpowered.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched
Reported by: New Richmond newspaper accounts of the mob seizure (reporters).
