Ahmed Abed
Ahmad Abed, 32, died on July 12, 2024, at Cook County Jail in Illinois, where he was held awaiting trial. The Cook County Sheriff's Office said he suffered an apparent medical emergency in the jail's residential treatment unit. Jail staff and medical personnel gave first aid before paramedics took him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, and the Illinois State Police are conducting an independent investigation.
